Kirsten Simpson, Manager Corporate Sustainability, VicSuper and Chair of NCD Working Group 4. Kirsten Simpson has a decade and a half of experience managing and implementing sustainability, corporate responsibility and environmental projects across government, corporate and not for profit sectors. She has experience in developing and working with global sustainability disclosure and assurance frameworks. She played an integral role in authoring the latest version of the Global Reporting Initiative’s (GRI) G4 sustainability reporting guidelines through her role on the G4 Technical Editing Task Force. She was awarded the grade of Lead Sustainability Assurance Practitioner (Lead CSAP) by AccountAbility for signing off sustainability reports to the AA1000 Assurance Standard. Kirsten sits on the International Integrated Reporting Council’s global Pension Network which aims to share knowledge and drive uptake of integrated reporting across the pension sector.As VicSuper’s Manager Corporate Sustainability, she works with the CEO and the executive team to deliver strategic initiatives across areas including environmental sustainability, stakeholder and community engagement, government advocacy, research and ESG integration. Kirsten is also responsible for delivering VicSuper’s Annual Performance Report and in 2014 she delivered their independently assured GRI G4 integrated report. During 2014 she also played a key role in delivering collaborative research on the state of Victoria’s economy and its reliance on natural capital. Kirsten has worked with some of Australia’s largest organisations including Wesfarmers, Newcrest, Amcor, RioTinto, CSL and Woolworths on sustainability strategy and assurance projects. Through this experience she has developed a demonstrated understanding of how environmental, social and economic impacts are measured and reported. Kirsten holds an honours degree in Earth Sciences and a Masters of Environment (Sustainability, Governance, Policy and Communication).
